Vision English Medium School

Value Based Learning

Metaphorically speaking, values are the firewall that deters a person from moving away from the path of honesty, transparency, resilience and dedication. Following this thought, Vision English Medium School intends to build a strong foothold in the area of good values and morals for its students, besides being at the forefront in the area of academics.

Abiding by the concept of Indian rootedness as prescribed by NEP 2020, the school actively celebrates all the Indian festivals with great pomp, while highlighting not only the traditions but also the scientific basis for each of the customs and festivals.

It is through this endeavour of ours that we engrave on the young minds of the future generation of this nation, the values of positive thinking, good thoughts, good health, maintenance of healthy relationships with family and friends, cooperation, collaboration, adjustment, empathy, mutual respect teamwork and above all, patriotism.

The school firmly believes in setting up a theme for each year which sets the tone for all the events which take place throughout the year. The USP of the school lies in the celebration of theme based Ganeshotsav where the teachers and students work in collaboration to decorate the ‘Makhar’ based on the theme, thus moving a step closer towards adorning spirituality through service.

While Deepotsav is celebrated with tremendous zeal and is meant to encourage creativity and imagination amongst the students to build an aesthetic sense in them, the school believes in inculcating a strong sense of social responsibility and community service amongst its students. The Samstha and thereby the school champion the concept of ‘Bhaubeej Nidhi’ where the students go into the society, inform the individuals from various walks of life about the noble work of the Samstha, of supporting the girls from socio-economically weaker sections of the society in their education, and collect alms from them to contribute their bit towards this noble cause. Here, they learn that it is important to give back to society.

Another activity which deserves special mention for its uniqueness is the celebration of the ‘Kalpavruksha Day’ where the students are taught the importance of the ‘coconut tree’ by decorating it and worshiping it. Here, the students are also informed about the endless uses of the coconut tree and why they need to conserve it. It is through activities like these that we imbibe in our students the love for nature, the attitude of gratitude and the openness to co-existence.

Besides the festivals mentioned above, the school celebrates yoga day, where the students perform yoga together, Raksha Bandhan where the students tie Rakhis to the cleanliness staff thus sending a message of ‘Equality and Respect, and Shiva Jayanti to inculcate love for our lineage.  The school also invites community helpers to acknowledge their importance in the society and in the lives of the students, thus teaching the students to be grateful towards every human being.

The school also celebrates ‘Pet Day’ wherein pet animals are brought to the school and the students are taught the values of unconditional love and the importance of the quality of ‘Live and Let Live’.

The school also celebrates relationships and teaches students to be grateful for their family. As an extension to this thought, the school celebrates days such as ‘Uncle-Aunty Day, Siblings Day’ and ‘Grandparents Day. This, in today’s times, is a way to acknowledge how relationships play an important role in our lives and how they need to be nurtured in order for them to flourish.

It is this thought which helps our students to understand that the celebration called ‘Life’ is incomplete without the presence of family, friends and society and that nature and the other species are an invaluable part of our existence.
